Do I need to pay for parking?
AYes, there is nominal charge of £4 for those guests choosing to travel by car.

Is my car safe in your car park?
AThe Alton Towers car park has a Secure Car Park Award and is well lit and covered by CCTV cameras. However, it is no more secure than any other public car park, and we urge you to take sensible precautions when you visit us :
- LOCK your car when you leave it;
- DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES IN YOUR CAR - especially satellite navigation systems;
- Remove your satellite navigation holder from your windscreen as well as the system itself;
- Don't bring 'stuff' that you don't need - leave as much as possible at home; Secure lockers are available at Guest Services near to the entrance of the Park.

What should I wear for a day out?
APlease dress for the changeable British weather. There is not a great deal of cover around the Park, please be prepared for rain at all times and wear sensible flat footwear due to the undulation of the Park and the need to brace on several of our rides.

How do I get to Alton Towers?

Are there any traffic hazards? If so how are these minimised?
AThe Park is closed to vehicular traffic movement whilst open to the public. There are designated drop-off points for coaches at Alton Towers. There is no requirement for children to cross any busy public roads although children will be required to cross internal Park roads to access the admissions area. Pedestrian walkways are provided where possible.

AOur well equipped First Aid Centre is run by qualified staff and is located at the bottom of Towers Street between Towers Family Restaurant and the Skyride station. Are pets allowed at Alton Towers?
APLEASE DO NOT BRING DOGS TO THE PARK UNLESS THEY ARE REGISTERED ASSISTANCE DOGS. We do patrol the car parks regularly. If we notice a dog has been left in a car, and if it is in distress, we will contact the RSPCA. They have the authority, with a police officer present, to break into your vehicle and remove the dog. Remember, on a warm day, the temperature inside a vehicle can soar to 120c/49f even if windows are left open. A dog can suffer from heatstroke within 20 minutes, and you could face prosecution. Please don't put yourself, or your dog, in this position.

Could any floor surfaces at the Park be slippery i.e. due to water? If so, what measures are in place to prevent accidents?
AWe ensure that floor surfaces are non-slip wherever possible. The outdoor nature of the Park means that it is exposed to weather conditions that can have an adverse affect on surfaces. Care needs to be taken when surfaces are wet.

Do any of the attractions involve being in confined spaces?
ASome of the rides and attractions can be quite small in area and to some individuals these may feel confined. However no areas on the Park can be defined as a confined space.

Do any of the rides or attractions feature strobe lighting?
AYes, a few of the attractions at the Park feature strobe lighting. This information can be found on signage at the entrance to each ride.

AThe Park opens at 9.30am and the ride time starts from 10.00am.

What are the medical provisions on-site?
AThe Park has a First Aid Centre. These are permanently staffed by fully qualified first aiders throughout the season. The location of the First Aid Centre is marked on the Park Map.

How long are the queues?
AAt Alton Towers we are committed to reducing queue times and have invested heavily this year in initiatives such as increasing our rider capacity and introducing new attractions.

How can I beat the queues?
AThrill and Family Shortcut tickets allow the bearer priority access to some of our favourite attractions and can be purchased and pre-ordered in advance. There are limited numbers available on the day.
Also using the single rider queues may reduce your wait if you don't mind riding alone

What are the Park provisions for lost children?
AAny lost persons will be taken to the Windmill, in Old MacDonalds Farmyard to await collection. You can ask any member of staff for assistance if you or a member of your group becomes separated.

Is there a team of trained staff members on-hand at all times and briefed in emergency and/or first aid procedures?
AAlton Towers has a comprehensive emergency plan that has been developed in conjunction with the emergency services. Staff are trained in what to do in an emergency.

Are there any restrictions on the attractions?
AYes, height restrictions apply and there is a list of other restrictions (dependent on the ride) and general information at the entry point to each attraction.

Is there an evacuation procedure?
AThe Park has a procedure in place to evacuate guests from the Park safely. This will be implemented by fully trained staff.

Are there any steep slopes children would have to climb? If so, are there hand-rails to assist them?
AHandrails are provided where necessary. There are no steep slopes in the Park.

Are the rides/attractions inspected on a daily basis for any hazards?
AAll rides undergo rigorous testing every day by competent engineers in accordance with manufacturers guidance. Rides also undergo a comprehensive winter check by third party inspection engineers to ensure that they are safe for the following season.

Are there any steps to negotiate? If so, are there alternative routes for wheelchair guests?
ASteps may need to be negotiated around the Park. Disabled access is provided where necessary.

Can I hire pushchairs?
AYes, strollers can be hired from Guest Services, located at the top of Towers Street. A £5 refundable deposit is required per stroller and a daily charge £6.00/£9.00 per single/double stroller applies, hotel guests are entitled to a discount on presentation of their voucher booklet.

Is the Park clearly sign-posted?
AYes, the Park is well sign-posted along with comprehensive detail on the Park Map.

Is there somewhere I can store my valuable items or bag?
AWe recommend that all valuable items and bags are left at home. Alton Towers cannot accept responsibility for items brought to the Park but lockers are available to store your belongings during your visit. You will find storage areas for loose items, belongings or shoes (on certain rides) available at most rides throughout the park.

In the event that children do misbehave and climb on railings etc, do staff members take disciplinary action?
AThe Park has regulations displayed at the entrance. Staff are trained to enforce these regulations for the benefit of all guests. Staff will instruct children to behave where necessary.

What happens if I lose an item of property at the Park?
AAlton Towers go to great lengths to reunite items of lost property with their rightful owners. Found items are taken to Guest Services. If you think you might have lost an item on-site please contact the Lost Property Department on 01538 703344 with your visit date and an accurate description of your item or alternatively complete our Lost Property form.

AThere is not a great deal of cover around the Park but there are many picnic areas and benches, so wrap up warm.

ACheckout time is 10am, however we are able to store your luggage until you leave Alton Towers, so you could go on the Theme Park, Waterpark, Spa or Extraordinary Golf.

I need to cover up for religious reasons. What can I wear in the pool?
AIf for religious reasons, some parts of your body must be covered, you can wear fitted leggings and/or a fitted t-shirt. However if the manager feels that for any reason the clothing is unsafe, you'll be refused access to certain rides for safety reasons. No other forms of clothing will be accepted.

I don't want to swim, can I wear outdoor clothing in the Waterpark?
AOutdoor clothing is not usually allowed at the poolside unless special permission is given.

Do I need suncream?
AUltraviolet radiation is not excluded from natural sunlight at Cariba Creek, so you may wish to wear suncream when it's sunny.

Do you have Lifeguards at the Waterpark?
AYes, our Lifeguards are trained to National Lifeguard Standard and this includes First Aid.

AWe ask that you let our staff know if you have an infectious disease or skin complaint. And for health reasons and the safety of our guests, please do not go into the water if you have had diarrhoea within the last 48 hours.

Where is the Spa?
AThe Spa is located on the first floor of the Alton Towers Hotel. Simply follow the signs.

When should I arrive?
APlease allow enough time for your Spa experience by arriving 10 minutes before your Spa treatment. Prompt appointment times are adhered to; it may not be possible to honour late appointments. You are here to escape, relax and unwind, so mobile phones may not be used. Please switch them off when you are in the Spa. Smoking is strictly forbidden in all Spa areas.

What do I wear?
AIf you're coming straight to the Spa, you can collect your robe and slippers from the Spa reception. Please leave your luggage with the porters. Remember to check your robe for any personal belongings e.g. rings, watch etc, when you have finished being pampered.

What do I wear under my robe?

How do I pay? Can I buy products and gifts?
AYou need to book your sessions prior to your stay to avoid disappointment. Payment can be made at time of booking or on the day?. If you would like to purchase any additional products or gifts on the day, these can either be charged to your hotel room or paid for by credit card or cash.

Is the Spa open to men and women?
AYes, the Spa welcomes both men and women for Aqua Relaxation Rooms and Spa treatments. The Spa is not available for children under the age of 16. However a teenage treatment package is available for 13-16 year olds. Please speak to our Spa reception for further information.

What is Extraordinary Golf?
ANew for 2007, the Extraordinary Golf experience consists of two 9-hole adventure golf courses themed around the park's iconic rides and attractions. Players of all ages can shoot a birdie into Air, putt their way into Oblivion, face the hazards of the Flume, swing over Nemesis and around the roundabouts of the Peugeot 207 Driving School.

Can we come in a group?
AYes, of course. But we ask all large groups of guests with disabilities to contact Guest Services 01538 704600 prior to their visit. We can advise you on access to the Park, Rides and the necessary carer ratio to gain special access bands, which can be ready for distribution on arrival.

Do I/we need to report anywhere when we arrive?
AYes, you should go to Guest Services. You'll find it on the right-hand side in Towers Street. We can advise you on ride access and restrictions, issue preferential/special ride access wristbands*, and offer further advice on facilities for guests with disabilities. If you require preferential/special access, documentary proof of disability is mandatory.
An induction loop is fitted for our guests using hearing aids.

How can we access the rides?
AGuests with disabilities who cannot use the normal queue lines should go to Guest Services, where they could receive preferential/special ride access wristbands (documentary proof of disability is mandatory). These wristbands allow preferential access to most of the rides, via entry points, which have been designed for ease of access.

Are there any limits on the number of disabled people allowed on rides?
AFor safety reasons, the number of guests with disabilities permitted on certain rides at any one time may be limited. For this reason, you may be asked to divide your party into smaller groups, and possibly experience a wait before you board.

What systems do you have in place for carers/companions?
AFor safety reasons, guests with disabilities who require physical assistance are required to have at least one carer over the age of 14 to accompany them onto the rides. If no physical assistance is required, there is no age requirement for a carer. Carers will also be issued with up to a maximum of four wristbands, and must be present at Guest Services with the guest who has the disability.

Are there any special changing facilities for the disabled?<
AYes, there are special changing facilities for disabled guests and you can contact reception if you need help.

Is there any safety information we should know?
AYes, a guide with extra information for guests with disabilities is available at guest services. This is in addition to the general ride restrictions (including height, size and loose item restrictions), which are applicable to all guests. The restrictions are detailed on information boards at the entrance to the rides, and it is the responsibility of all guests to check these before deciding to ride.

Are there are any special requirements for carers/companions?
AHelpers accompanying guests with disabilities onto the rides must sit in the same row or car as the disabled guest they are assisting. Carers must assist disabled guests with loading and offloading (including their transfer from wheelchairs). A maximum of two carers may accompany a disabled guest on to any ride at any one time. Our staff will give full instructions, but for everyone's safety, the carers must do all lifting-our staff cannot assist in any way. Carers must also be able to communicate any safety restrictions and messages, and assist with any emergency or evacuation procedures.

Are there any rides that are unsuitable for people with disabilities?
ASeveral rides are unsuitable for guests with heart, neck, or back conditions, or expectant mothers - and we strongly recommend that guests, who have had recent surgery or an injury, do not ride certain attractions. On many of our rides, guests will need to brace themselves in an upright position. These restrictions apply to most rides and are detailed on signage at the ride entrances where they are applicable. All rides require guests to keep their arms and legs inside the ride cars, and to remain seated at all times. Not all rides are suitable for all guests.

Are there any restrictions on rides?
AEach ride has strict operating requirements that all riders must meet. Please do not ask our staff to break these rules they are there for your own safety.

Can I hire a wheelchair?
AA limited number of wheelchairs are available for hire at guest services (located on the right-hand side of Towers Street) on a first come first serve basis. A £5 refundable deposit is required. We would suggest that guests who need a wheelchair to travel around the Park bring their own for ease of use. A rental charge of £10 applies to persons who are not registered as disabled. Please note, wheelchairs cannot be taken beyond the turnstiles when exiting the Park.

Do you have any special policy regarding people with disabilities?
AMembers of the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions (BALPPA) welcome visits by disabled people and will do all that is possible to ensure a safe and pleasurable stay. However, certain rides and attractions in our parks can be physically demanding and vigorous. AThe Park has a First Aid Centre. These are permanently staffed by fully qualified first aiders throughout the season. The location of the First Aid Centre is marked on the Park map.

Are there any traffic hazards. If so how are these minimised?
AThe Park is closed to vehicular traffic movement whilst open to the public. There are designated drop-off points for coaches at Alton Towers. There is no requirement for children to cross any busy public roads although children will be required to crossinternal Park roads to access the admissions area. Pedestrian walkways are provided where possible.

AYes food on-Park is clearly labelled in accordance with trading requirements.

AThe First Aid Centre on the Park has a lost children facility.

AAlton Towers has a comprehensive emergency plan that has been developed in conjunction with the emergency services. Staff are trained in what to do in an emergency.

AThe Park has a procedure in place to evacuate guests from the Park safely. This will be implemented by fully trained staff.

Are there any steep slopes children would have to climb? If so, are there hand-rails to assist them?
AHandrails are provided where necessary. There are no steep slopes at the Park.

Are the rides/attractions inspected on a daily basis for any hazards?
AAll rides undergo rigorous testing every day by competent engineers in accordance with manufacturers guidance. Rides also undergo a comprehensive winter check by third party inspection engineers to ensure that they are safe for the following season.

Are there any steps to negotiate? If so, are there alternative routes for wheelchair guests?
ASteps may need to be negotiated around the Park. Disabled access is provided where necessary.
