Families with Children
On the theme park
There's so much to do across the Alton Towers Resort for families with children looking for a short break:
For small children:
We have lots of rides and attractions for little ones, visit Old MacDonald's Farmyard and Cred Street to keep toddlers happy.
For older children:
We have loads of rides, attractions and live shows for the whole family. Try Battle Galleons at Mutiny Bay, UG Swinger, the Congo River Rapids, Corkscrew, Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryTM: The Ride, Gallopers Carousel, Bouncing Bugs, The Flume and The Beastie.
Parent Queue Share
Parents can take advantage of the parent queue share passes from Guest Services. One parent queues up as normal with the pass while the other parent waits or uses other attractions with the child. Once the queuing parent gets to the ride station they need to get the ride assistant to sign or stamp the Parent Queue Share card. Once they are off the ride they can look after the child while the other parent takes the Parent Queue Share card and enters the ride via the exit.
Lost Children
Lost children will be taken to the Windmill in the Farmyard area, where they will be looked after by lost child hosts until they are reunited with their parents.
Free Child ID wristbands are available from Guest Services (on Towers Street). Simply pop your mobile number on the back of the wristband and if your child gets lost they can approach a member of staff, who will take the child to the Windmill in the Farmyard area. Our lost child hosts will call the number on the wristband.
Baby-Care Areas
There are 6 baby-care areas located within the toilets around the theme park.
Pushchairs are available for hire from Guest Services. Single buggies are £6 and doubles are £9 with a £5 deposit. Hotel guests will receive a £1 discount if they use their voucher from the Hotel Voucher Booklet.
Baby supplies are available from the Towers Trading Store - which normally stocks nappies, bottles, dummies and Calpol.
There are 7 baby changing facilities are located in the majority of toilets around the park.
There is a first aid point behind Towers Family Restaurant on Towers Street.
Healthy Eating
Want something healthy to eat? We have healthy eating options available in Rita's Chicken & Ribs, Ripsaw Cafe, and the Courtyard Barbecue & bar. And if you want to bring your own food there is a picnic area near Mutiny Bay.
We take very seriously our responsibilities to provide visitors with a quality food offering, including a wide range of healthy options - all at High Street prices. We constantly review the menus in our outlets, and over the last two years have not only improved the quality of our visitors' traditional favourites - but have also invested heavily in developing new balanced meals and healthy snacks for all the family - available where you see our ‘Healthier Choices' logo. This includes grilling or oven baking our meals rather than frying whenever possible; offering baked potato or salad alternative to fries on all main courses wherever possible; improving the content of our kids lunch boxes; and even providing free fresh fruit salad with children's meals in many of our restaurants.
For 2008 we have introduced many new options including a brand new range of delicious healthy kids meals developed by leading food and nutrition expert, Annabel Karmel, which contain fresh ingredients and vital nutrients for growing children.
However, we never forget that most people visiting a theme park such as ours regard it as a one or two day 'treat', and we must ultimately allow our guests' to take nutritional responsibility for their own food choices while they are with us.
In our hotels
There are family rooms available that sleep 4-6 in both our hotels, which means the whole family can stay together.
Both hotels have special Family Facility rooms. They include fridge, microwave, washing machine, iron and ironing board. Ask at reception for more information.
If you need a cot for your little one, please book in advance by calling reservations on 0871 222 1100
Unfortunately we don't offer babysitting or baby listening services.
All our hotel shops normally stock nappies, bottles, dummies and Calpol.
You may prefer to reserve a table between 6pm and 7pm in our restaurants as it's less busy.
Family entertainment - there's lots going on to keep the kids happy, including shows from our very own Pirate Captain William.
In the Waterpark:
Kids are in for bucket loads of fun.
For small children:
They can explore 70 watery, interactive play features on the Wacky Waterworks Treehouse. Paddle, slide and squirt in the Little Leak - our bright, shallow pool. Why not take them for a ride on the current of the Lazy River? They won't want to get out!

We have loads of rides, attractions and live shows for the whole family. Try the Tea Cups, Battling Galleons at Mutiny Bay, UG Swinger, the Congo River Rapids, Corkscrew, Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryTM: The Ride, Gallopers Carousel, Bouncing Bugs, The Flume and The Beastie.
For health and safety reasons, children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult. We have a strict child/adult ratio in the Waterpark and responsible adults (16+) must accompany children into the water:
Under 5's - 1 child/1 adult
5-9 years - 2 children/1 adult
Any guest unable to fulfil the ration requirements will not be allowed into the Waterpark.
Buoyancy aids are available for young children and can be used free of charge.
We have baby changing facilities along with baby seats and there is a dedicated baby feeding room. You can also buy disposable swim nappies from the pool shop.
Please do not take large inflatable toys or boats into the pool. We have special inflatable fun sessions for children up to age 6. Just check at the Waterpark reception for times.
We hold Parent & Toddler days on Wednesdays and Fridays between 10am and 1.30pm. Bring your toddler along and entry is just £5 for both of you. And you each get a free drink! There's also free car parking.
